Editor,

I’m writing this letter to everyone involved with the Salazar settlement, tribal council and tribal membership, water, hunting, fishing rights also the Hellgate treaty, and this place called the Flathead Indian Reservation, which means Indian country.

It seems some forget Indians live here and were put here long ago along with the land, trees, water, mountains, and wild animals; and to say or try to reverse is just like a word or promise broken all over again.

I am not a prejudiced person but everywhere on this reservation I can see and feel it from the Suyapis: They’ll do anything they can to get what they want just to keep the minorities at bay. Take for instance the Salazar Settlement. This shouldn’t even be an issue. It’s the tribal members’ money, give it to them.

Greed is not among the poor; it strives in the lining of the rich’s pocket. When comes time for tribal re-election, who’s gonna lose next time? The Hellgate treaty stands as hot as the sun is hot. Everyday, no matter what, the Suyapis got to learn to live with Indians in Indian country. And sacred places are not to be with an uneven mind, and truths are not to be hidden or said by former employees, and our per capitas are pitiful, regarding capita from any tribal businesses, so please — don’t look down on the tribal membership. All they want is their money to build what they can with it. Give them a chance, too.

Also, interest from the Salazar Settlement should also be owed. Thank you for your eyes and ears.
