National Grandparents Day is Sept. 8. This started with a federal proclamation in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter declaring the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day to honor our nation’s grandparents. Census bureau statistics of 2011 list more than 7 million grandparents had grandchildren under 18 living with them, with 2.7 million responsible for the basic needs of one or more grandchildren under the age of 18 who live with them.
The Miracle of America will give free admission to grandparents bringing paying grandchildren on that day from 1:30 to 6 p.m.
Constitution Day, called Citizenship Day on some calendars, is Tuesday, Sept. 17. The Miracle of America Museum will stay open until 7 p.m. that day and offer lecture tours of the Revolutionary War display and Constitution Displays at no extra cost. Free pocket copies of the Constitution will also be given to participants.
The Miracle of America Museum is located off Highway 93 along Polson Hill, at 36094 Memory Lane. For appointments or more information, call (406) 883-6804.
