ARLEE — After losing a hard-hitting fight to the Mission Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday night in Mission (25-19, 18-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-7), the Scarlets emerged with two wins at home.
Arlee Head Coach Brian Big Sam was pleased with his team’s hard fought loss to the Lady Bulldogs.
“We were working on some things,” Big Sam said. “I wasn’t mad or sad.”
On Thursday, the Scarlets defeated the Noxon Lady Red Devils 25-19, 28-26, 22-25, 25-27, 15-11.
After winning the first two sets, the Scarlets lost some momentum, which allowed Noxon to gain the edge needed to take games three and four.
“I really didn’t have to say anything to them,” head coach Brian Big Sam said. “They knew they had to get everyone going. Sometimes they are too hard on themselves.”
But the Scarlets were able to regain some of the confidence from the first two sets and to pull off the win in the fifth. Mahalia Hendren led Arlee with 20 kills and four blocks. Cortney Dix added 30 assists and five aces and Bailey Rice had 23 digs.
On Saturday, Dix had nine kills, two blocks and 14 aces in the win over Hot Springs. The Scarlets are now 9-5 for the season and 6-3 in league play.
