POLSON — Brent Arthur Wilson was sentenced in Judge Deborah Kim Christopher’s court on Sept. 9. Wilson was tried and found guilty on July 13 for the attempted theft of a log home and its surrounding land at 2948 Meadow Lane in 2009.
Wilson changed the locks on the house, removed for sale signs and attempted to transfer title of the property to himself.
For theft, a felony, Wilson was committed to the Montana State Penitentiary for six years with three years suspended. For deceptive practices, a felony, Wilson was sentenced to the MSP for a term of four years with two years suspended. For tampering with public records or information, a felony, Wilson received 10 years with five suspended and for the offense of criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, six months. All the time is to be served consecutively and Wilson will receive credit for time served.
Wilson represented himself at his trial in July. However, after Wilson was sentenced Steven Eschenbacher, standby counsel for Wilson, asked for a new trial but the request was denied.
