Whether it was the steaming spaghetti, the generous door prizes, or the chance to run a flat and fall color-laden course, something enticed 142 runners to participate in the “Live Locally” 5K Run/Walk Saturday in Polson. Perhaps it was the chance to support Polson Youth Soccer Association through proceeds from the annual autumn race.
Sponsored by Polson Running, HealthCare Plus and Country Pasta, the event focused on encouraging a healthy local environment. Awards were presented to winners in each age group and all runners, spectators and volunteers were treated to free spaghetti lunch.
Jason Delaney finished first overall with a time of 15:08, a full four minutes and 10 seconds ahead of second place finisher Caleb Krantz (19:18), who tied with 14-year-old Wyatt Benson.
First-place honors in the ladies’ division went to 12-year-old Beatrix Frissell, crossing the finish at 20:01.
With a goal of promoting health at any age, runners ranged from 4-year-old Elliot Anderson (50:28) to 87-year-old Bob Hayes (34:24).
