Editor,
The Tribal membership will either vote yes or no for the recall petition, so be the wishes of the people.
We expect our Tribal council members to serve the people with honesty, integrity, professionalism, transparency and moral obligation to the people; to those same people that have elected them to their leadership positions.
We must remember that resolutions can be passed and ordinances approved, we can stand behind self-determination and sovereignty; but in the end, if you do not have moral obligation to the people they are all worthless; everything boils down to the people. The protection of our people and resources should always be at the center of the council’s decisions.
The Tribal membership should not accept anything less from our overhead management people, board of directors, attorneys and employees. Be forthright with your advice and concerns to our leadership in order for them to make a right decision.
In days of old (before the Indian Reorganization Act) our Chiefs and Headmen of our tribes always made their decisions with that moral obligation to the people. Yes sir; it all boils down to the people.
