News from Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana
CHARLO — The 2013 season ended Nov. 2 at the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana. At the suggestion of board member Ron Merwin, museum visitors were asked to bring a food item in lieu of paying the admission fee on Friday and Saturday. The museum was grateful to be able to make a nice contribution to the Bread Basket in Ronan, just in time for the holiday season. While the museum is closed for the winter, group tours are still available for schools and community clubs. Call (406) 644-3435 to reserve a tour.
The museum’s annual fundraising event, the Black Tie Dinner (tie optional) is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan.16, at Allentown
Restaurant. Prior to the dinner, a complimentary tour of the museum will be offered at 6 p.m. The guest speaker at the dinner will be Dr. Richard Ellis, a retired American history professor who will speak on “The Value of Oral History.” The dinner will be the official kick-off of fundraising for the museum’s oral history project that dovetails with work to additionally record historic details about the many artifacts, photos and memorabilia on display in the museum. This community enrichment project will provide valley residents, as well as visitors, with the means to explore Mission Valley history in more detail. Reserve seats for the dinner as soon as possible by calling (406) 644-3435.
