The courts in the Joe McDonald Fitness Center at Salish Kootenai College saw plenty of action over the Thanksgiving weekend as Bison basketball teams hosted Miles City Community College and the junior varsity team from the University of Great Falls.

On Friday, both the men’s and ladies’ teams took a tumble against Miles City. The Bison came close but lost 88-93 while the Lady Bison fell 66-77.

“We’ve been struggling a little bit just to play a full 40-minute game,” Lady Bison Head Coach Juan Perez said. “We’re still evolving and growing.”

SKC lit it up Sunday with both the Bison and Lady Bison grabbing wins. Facing the University of Great Falls JV squad, the Bisons scored 98 points to their opponent’s 74. The Lady Bison kept the Lady Argos at bay with a 65-58 score.

Perez remains optimistic about the future of his Lady Bison.

“Once the team figures it out, they could possibly be one of the best teams in SKC history,” he said.

Bison head coach Zachary Camel could not be reached for comment.

Next up, the Bison and Lady Bison will host University of Montana Western JV Dec. 7-8.
