Editor,

On behalf of the Ronan Parade of Lights committee, which includes Kandi Davis, Rod Smart, Ron and Michelle Meyers, Jack Fay and myself, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for all the community support we received for our 2013 Christmas parade. We had a record number of 36 floats, 15 gallons of hot cocoa and more than 400 stockings and Santa goody bags.

A special shout out to Rod at 2nd Chance for providing a workshop for all the stockings and goodies as well as his donation of the fruit. Mama Cheryl’s daycare for her kitchen and baking all the 600 cookies...all the awesome elves (too many too mention but you know who you are) for providing the extensive preparation and clean up work that was necessary to make our parade such a success. Michelle at Ronan Library District and National Relief Charities for helping provide the stockings stuffers. As a result of all the donations and support, our Parade of Lights Committee along with Santa and his elves we were able to deliver 200 stockings and goody bags to our parade kids, 135 Christmas bags to Kicking Horse Job Corps students, 62 to the Ronan Nursing home and five infant bags to St. Lukes nursery.

A fantastic job by Ky and Kicking Horse Job Corps students and Friends of the Ronan Park group who transformed our sleepy little downtown into a festive winter wonderland of lights and decorations. We loved to see the faces from so many parade participants and attendees throughout the Mission Valley. We are blessed to live in such a giving community and are already planning for Ronan’s next Parade of Lights.
