Editor,
Are you one of the many Americans who is currently assuming a new role in your life, that of a caregiver? This role is becoming more common for many of us and it is a role that thrusts individuals into situations and emotional turmoil that leave the caregiver exhausted, bewildered, and drained.
I participated in the “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” class put on by the Area VI Agency on Aging and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. As another class is scheduled to commence Wednesday, Jan. 15, I’d encourage individuals in a care-giving role to participate in this insightful, helpful class. This is such a challenging role to take on, and the class not only helped me with the role of caregiver for my mother, but it made me aware of how important it is to take care of myself so I can continue to take great care of her. I recommend “Powerful Tools Caregivers” to anyone at any stage of care giving. It will help with your current situation, as well as prepare you for future changes you might face.
If you have any questions, or you’d like to register for the class, call the Area VI Agency on Aging at (406) 883-7284. Give yourself the gift of sharing and learning for the New Year.
