DIXON — Is it spring yet? That’s my question every January and February. In my little valley the snow is very light, I’ve only been plowed out once so far and the temperature is nearly 40 right now. The mountains are bare of snow and it could be mistaken for the end of winter. But, of course, we need moisture and I’m retired and only need to go out for medical appointments and social occasions and supplies. Our much-needed winter is a good time to catch up on indoor chores.
Our guests for “Brunch for Lunch” last Thursday, included Nancy Jo Howard, our “Information for Seniors” lady who travels to every senior center in the county, bringing help and advice along with her humor. Also, we were pleased to have Sanders County Sheriff, Tom Rummel, pay us a visit, assuring us we are not forgotten at this end of the county. He discussed needs and ideas for the sheriff’s office.
We are missing some of our long-time members, due to sickness and other health issues. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Meals for the rest of January will be:
• Thursday, Jan. 16: salmon patties, baked potatoes
• Monday, Jan. 20: Polish sausages, macaroni and cheese
• Thursday, Jan. 23: roast turkey breast, potato casserole
• Monday, Jan. 27: pork roast, mashed potatoes
• Thursday, Jan. 30: ham, creamy pasta casserole
All meals include vegetables, fruit, varied breads and dessert for only $4 and take-outs are available. Lunch is served each Thursday at noon and dinner is Monday at 5 p.m. All ages are welcome; we even have a highchair.
Dues for joining the Dixon Senior Center are just $5 and payable to Marie Ardis and it’s time to renew, or join now.
Take a winter break and drive to Dixon Senior Center on National Scenic Highway 200.
