Editor,
Is your organization prepared to take on a community project that is worthwhile, challenging and a whole lot of fun? “Soup’s On,” the community kitchen in Polson is seeking groups that are willing to prepare, serve and clean up a lunch time meal once per month. This is a wonderful team-building opportunity. Please visit us soon, on the corner of Seventh Avenue West and First Street West (across from Dempsey’s Pawn Shop.) Speak to any of our volunteers and learn more about the project and how you can participate.
“Soup’s On” is a non-profit effort designed to aid the needy, by improving people’s health and welfare. The program benefits everyone, including those who are socially isolated, economically disadvantaged, disabled and aging.
The program is based at the Wander Inn, 101 Seventh Ave. in Polson. Even though many people we serve suffer from poverty-related issues, others attend “Soup’s On” simply for the friendly atmosphere and camaraderie. Though not required, people may support the program by giving a cash donation for their meal. The free meal is served Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Our mission is to provide a place where everyone feels nourished, safe, empowered and appreciated. “Soup’s On” is a friendly place where we share a midday meal. Anyone is welcome and everyone is treated with dignity.
“Soup’s On” grew from our organization’s free monthly community meal program, Family Table, which began in 2005. This monthly meal continues to be served on the fourth Friday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. This month the meal will include the Second Annual Plant and Yard Sale. We will be collecting contributions of plants and yard sale items during the week of May 22-27. Your items can be dropped off at the Wander Inn between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Join the fun on May 27. The event will feature a barbecue along with an array of white elephants for your home and garden. For more information please call (406) 871-1109.
