Frances Josephine Markovic
POLSON — Frances Josephine Markovic passed away peacefully from complications of a broken hip on Jan. 6, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Polson, at the age of 81.
Frances was born on Feb. 25, 1932, in Larimore, N.D. and lived on the family farm until the death of her father in a farm accident. She, her sister Lois and mother, Burnadette, moved to San Francisco in 1940. Throughout her life she also lived in Hawaii, Illinois and Oregon, but mostly in Santa Cruz, Calif. where she raised her family, before finally settling in Polson in 2005 to be near her daughter.
Frances’ daughter and son-in-law Lise Rousseau and Albert Silva; two step-granddaughters and their husbands; and three great-grandchildren survive her.
Frances will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her generous spirit and her open heart. No one was a stranger to her for very long. She will also be remembered for her creativity, expert seamstress skills and her beautiful cherry aprons.
To honor Frances’ wishes, there will be no services. She has donated her body to the UW Medical School WAMI program. In remembrance of her, the family requests that you “pay it forward” with an act of kindness to a stranger or make a donation to a local homeless or veterans’ support group.
