POLSON — The Charlie Russell Riders from Bigfork wearing sparkly royal blue blouses led the Polson Pet Parade down Main Street and back on 1st Street E. The parade started at 11 a.m. on June 25.
The parade was a precursor to the Polson PRCA Rodeo held on June 25 and 26.
Following the pretty girls and their horses were about 30 young pet owners and their dogs, or in one case, a guinea pig in a plastic basket. Rodeo contractor John Smith even brought his dog to the parade.
The kids received candy and a ticket to the rodeo for participating in the parade. Boy Scout Troop 1947 helped out by scooping poop. The parade also drew an admiring crowd.
Sharon Procopio and Barbara Jacobson from the Polson Chamber of Commerce organized the parade.
Procopio said she hopes the parade will become an annual event during rodeo week in Polson.
