POLSON — Mardi Gras, the biggest yearly fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County, grossed approximately $12,000 to support children.
The 170 guests who attended the Feb. 8 dinner and auction, held at KwaTaqNuk Resort and Casino, enjoyed good food and company, according to Michal Delgado, Boys and Girls Club administrative assistant.
Honored was John Schnase, who was executive director of the Boys and Girls Club for 10 years. Schnase devoted untold hours to the job.
Aric Cooksley will be the new executive director, and he was at the dinner. Cooksley has lived and worked in the area, most recently owning his own trucking company.
Dana Grant emceed the activities and coordinated the live auction. Auctioneer Jason Clinkenbeard, Rivers West Auction Company, plied his trade and sold the items.
Attendance was down about 30 people, Delgado said, but “people have been good to us and give to us prior to the event and made pledges for the whole year. The community has been more than gracious.”
Delgado said the $20 per month pledges have been supporting the club since September.
“Our goal is 2,000 households at $20 per month for sustainable operating income,” Delgado said.
