Some conservative logic

Editor,

Be a pragmatist. Pragmatists believe in a “bottom-up approach” where the government works for us as it is ascribed in our Constitution. What we have today is a “top-down approach” where we are essentially working for our government.

You are a human being and you have inherent potential. Abraham Maslow said, “if you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.” The government is of no help in this endeavor.

Question anything the government does other than the management of defending this nation. It is difficult to think that the government can do anything as well as the private sector.

Be a student of history and believe in the collective wisdom of the people who came before us. Speak with any immigrant that came from anywhere on the globe, and no doubt you will be speaking with a very grateful conservative.

It is a belief that people will work harder for themselves than they would for some bureaucrat; that people respond to economic incentives; that morals matter and that self-reliance is better than dependency.

From a religious perspective, nothing should be more important than God, family and country, all conservative values.

It has been said: “Big government equals small people.” Stated differently, “the bigger the government becomes, the less liberty we have to live our lives as it was intended by our founders and what the Constitution states verbatim.”
