I have known Rick Schoening since 1985. I consider him a personal friend. We met via our shared personal hobby. While we have not had more than a few opportunities to visit face to face, we have communicated for years via letter, phone and email.
Rick is that rare individual who exemplifies all of the qualities you want your children to possess. He is a completely honest individual, he is loyal to friends, morally intact, intelligent and a gifted law enforcement officer. I know the last as a former police officer for the short period of three years, knowing full well what it takes to make a good cop. Rick is all of that and more. I can only make the citizens of Lake County one promise, that Rick will be the fairest and probably the best Sheriff that Lake County has ever seen. Yes, I hold him that high regard.
