Maidens secure top spots at Western B

MISSOULA – The Western B District track meet kicked off on Friday with the Maidens holding top spots through the end. Maidens Aspen Jore and Sydnee Clairmont each came away as dual gold winners in their events. Jore took first in javelin tossing 112-1 and in shot put with a distance of 34-10, and also placed second in discus throw. Clairmont placed in the number-one spots in high jump, clearing 5-1 and landing 15-3 in the long jump while taking first for the Maidens. Lee Camel grabbed first in the triple jump logging 32-5.75 and also came away with second in the long jump. Placing second for the Maidens were Ally Buhr (high jump, pole vault), and Kianna Howell (400 meter). Finishing in third were Jessie Lewis (100 meter, 200 meter), Ashley McCready (1,600), Siliye Pete (shot put) and Ally Buhr (400 meter). Rounding out the top four in fourth for the Maidens were Clairmont (triple jump), Pete (discus), McCready (3,200), Alex Dennis (200 meter), and Hannah McGuire (high jump). The Maidens relay teams placed first in the 400 meter and second in the 1,600 meter relay.

Mission’s Sydney Castor came away with the highest scores for the Lady Bulldogs placing third in the triple jump landing 30-04 and fourth in the 100 meter. Lady Bulldog Auxie Cates took fourth in the pole vault.

Chief Lucas Gebhardt once again proved dominant in the shot put and javelin events. Gebhardt threw 49-0 in shot put and 176-9 in javelin, earning first in both. Connor Benn cleared 11-6 in pole vault — good for a first place finish — and also grabbed second in triple jump, leaping 37-10. Other second-place finishers for the Chiefs include Cole Gebhardt (discus), Daniel Koehler (3,200), Tate Lipscomb (400 meter), and Bryce Cullen (110 hurdles). Finding third was Lipscomb (110 hurdles), Cullen (400 meter, 300 hurdles), Koehler (800 meter), and C. Gebhardt (shot put). In at fourth was Benn (400 meter) and Aaron Misa (300 hurdles). The Chiefs placed third in the 400 meter relay and second in the 1,600 meter relay.

Mission’s Patrick Eichert secured first for the Bulldogs in the triple jump landing 39-2. Nick Durglo finished in third in the 200 meter and Raymond Matt took fourth in the high jump. The Bulldogs relay team finished fourth for the 400 meter relay.

Thr top six athletes in each event will continue on to Divisionals held in Missoula at the Missoula County Stadium May 23-24.
