RONAN — Once again, I almost forgot to do this column, so I hope that it gets in the papers.

We just attended our oldest grandsons graduation; just another reminder that we are getting older. Then, again, there is only one alternative.

We also toured the ship that our oldest granddaughter is stationed on, the USS Nimitz. That is a “big” boat and I was worn out the next day. For the life of me, I don’t know how those sailors find their way around that ship. When she was first assigned to it, I checked it out on the Internet. Then I checked out Ronan. The Nimitz is 1050 feet long and 225 feet wide and she holds 5000 people. Ronan is 1 1/2 miles square and has a population of approx. 1600 people, quite a difference. (Of course, the Nimitz is 9 stories tall.)

I would like to thank all of the voters who approved the mil-levy for the Senior Centers in Lake County. You will never know how much this money means to the centers and to those who use them. For some of our centers, it may mean the difference between closing their doors or staying open. Once again, thank you.

Don’t forget our evening meal is this Thursday, June 12, at 5 p.m. Our cooks will serve up a great chicken dinner.

Cards will be played in Ronan at 7 p.m., on Monday, June 16.

The foot clinic will be on Wednesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. until noon. Please call (406) 676-2371 to get your name on the list.

Our menu for the rest of the month is:

•  Wednesday, June 11: Polish sausage with sauerkraut and macaroni and cheese

•  Thursday, June 12: chicken at 5 p.m.

•  Friday, June 13: fish

•  Monday, June 16: pork chops

•  Wednesday, June 18: taco bar

•  Friday, June 20: cook’s choice

•  Monday, June 23: salad bar

•  Wednesday, June 25: beef stroganoff

•  Friday, June 27: roast beef

•  Monday, June 30: will be a surprise as there isn’t anything on menu for that day

Our meals are served at noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5 p.m. and on the second Thursday of each month.

Come in and join us for a great meal, and to visit with your friends.

Have a great week, and enjoy the wonderful weather.
