Betty Shoumaker
POLSON — Betty Shoumaker, 88, of Polson, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Polson after a short illness. She was born on Feb. 21, 1926, in Clearmont, Wyo., to Noah Askins and Susie Miller Askins, both formerly of Kentucky. She attended schools in Buffalo and Clearmont, Wyo., and graduated high school at Clearmont.
Betty married Richard C. Shoumaker of Buffalo, on July 1, 1947. They farmed in the Spotted Horse, Wyo., area until 1960 when they moved to Valley View, near Polson. In 1991 they moved to Polson and resided there until their deaths.
Betty is survived by three children, Ted, of Boise, Idaho; Kate Langford of Meridian, Idaho; and Penny Starr of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial Service will be held on July 12 from 1-4 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1609 2nd St W, Polson, Montana. Memorial donations can be made to Betty’s Quilting Fund, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Polson.
