Editor,

I have been trying to get the Missoulian to become more balanced in its texture of both news reporting and opinion pieces. Wish me good luck.

As part of that effort, and considering that they restrict me considerably, with limitation to once a month, dismissive editing, or out-right dismissal of submissions, more often lately than not, I have been forwarding pieces from other more well versed and erudite persona, including Thomas Sowell, Walter E Williams, Ben Carson, etc. I love them all, and were I so inclined, I might propose to one or the other.

Such that, in a recent submittal, mostly a quote from Thomas Sowell, both Thomas and I were blasted in the comments section. Some nasty stuff despite the Missoulian’s caution against vitriolic drivel.

As was obvious, those commenters knew little or none of Thomas Sowell. Thomas, as are many respected authors and economists of high acclaim, is “black,” or such our society deems him. Had those wonderfully “articulate” Missoulian commenters bothered to check with Google, they might have at least known that about Thomas, and been more cautious about the adverse name calling, to avoid being called a racist. Not that I, nor Thomas would ever do that.

So far, the Missoulian seems somewhat unrelenting. Let’s see how this fits.
