Editor,

In regard to Rich Bell’s letter in the Valley Journal, I must address a few issues.

I know Rick Jore does not need me to defend his view. However, Mr. Bell seems to be looking at the wrong document for the references to God. He brings up the Constitution, which is a document that sets forth our form of government. While  Mr. Jore makes it clear that he is referring to the Declaration of Independence, which is just that, a declaration of independence that also contains the founders' reasons for and justification of their call for independence and it most certainly does acknowledge God.

I am also confused by Mr. Bell associating Mr. Jore with Steve Daines. I have no desire to defend Mr. Daines or what he stands for. I do, though, want to address his remarks about the government controlling the choices a woman makes. I am guessing that what he is talking about is the killing of unborn babies commonly called abortion. If that is indeed what he is referring to he must know that no one has the right to commit that act. Both the federal and state constitutions acknowledge that Mr. Bell, myself and everyone else, including unborn children, shall not have their lives taken from them without due process. He also seems to imply that only men are opposed to abortion. That is not the case. A great many women are against it as well. If abortion supporters would stop using terms such as pro-choice or women’s rights and call this hideous act what it is — the killing of a baby — he would find very little support for it.
