Editor,

I would like to thank the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for another great Citizens’ Academy this year. It was very informative with great information about what the Sheriff’s Officers do, how they do their jobs, and how they interact with the public. We shot their guns. We rode along with them and took a ride in their boat.

Our instructor Fernando Venegas was just great. He planned each meeting and had the deputies that were knowledgeable in their jobs there. Deputy Venegas was great and very knowledgeable in his job as our instructor.

There was more information given this year than in previous years.

I have been going to the Citizens’ Academy since 1998. The years Lucky Larson was sheriff we didn’t have the Citizens’ Academy. Sheriff Jay Doyle brought it back in 2013. Fernando took the reins and was our instructor. I pray that our new sheriff Don Bell will keep the Citizens’ Academy going and see the importance of this information between the citizens and the sheriff’s office.

Please, people, go and see for yourselves. Don’t take what you hear. Talk is cheap, seeing is believing — as is doing.

Thank you Sheriff Jay Doyle, Deputy Fernando Venegas and all the deputies for another great Citizens’ Academy.

The men and women of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office have my undying love and devotion for the jobs they do. God bless you.
