Judge James A. Manley dealt with the following cases Wednesday, July 30:

Robert Lee Carman, 58, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to issuing a bad check, a common scheme, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 3, with a jury trial set to start Nov. 3.

According to court documents, Carmen allegedly wrote nine checks to local businesses written between Sept. 5, 2013 and March 13, 2014 that totaled more than $412, knowing that the money would not be paid due to insufficient funds. The total owed, including victim fees and attorney fees, is $742.53.

On March 7, the Lake County Attorney’s Office sent Carmen a letter informing him he needed to pay the balance or charges would be filed. Carmen appeared in Justice Court June 23, but the funds still have not been paid.

Anthony Brooks, 23, Charlo, pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for Oct. 1 and a jury trial is set to begin Nov. 11.

According to court documents, charges stem from June 20 when Brooks was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A Lake County Deputy found an empty pen tube commonly used to snort dangerous drugs with residue inside.

Court documents state that Brooks admitted smoking Lortab, which contains the drug hydrocodone. Brooks admitted he did not have a prescription for the narcotic.

Judge Deborah Kim Christopher dealt with the followed cases Thursday, July 31:

Brian Gifford, 23, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony. An omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 11 and a jury trial is set to begin Oct. 27.

According to court documents, charges stem from about June 20 when Brooks was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A Lake County Deputy found an empty pen tube commonly used to snort dangerous drugs with residue inside. Gifford admitted it was his “snort tube.” Gifford said there was pill residue inside and that he had snorted Lortab earlier.

Timothy Wayne Muth, 43, Pablo, pleaded not guilty to two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, both felonies.

An omnibus hearing is set for Sept. 4 with a jury trial set to begin Oct. 14.

According to court documents, charges stem from Feb. 27, 2013, when officers searched as residence belonging to Muth. Muth was detained and a small black purse was found on Muth that contained a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue. Then on May 17, 2013, an officer searched the camper where Muth was reported living in Pablo and found a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine that contained methamphetamine residue, and a Ziploc baggie with a small amount of meth.
