Art gallery hosts opening reception
POLSON — Sandpiper Art and Gift Gallery, 306 Main Street, announces the first exhibit of the New Year entitled: “First in Fourteen.” Members Kelly Apgar (monochromatic work composed of found objects), Paula Craft (B and W photography), Maryann Eikens (bronze sculptures) and Donna Rolfson (paintings) have put together a show of new works to open the season. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 5-7 p.m. The show will hang until Feb. 14.

Hospital administrator to speak at Pachyderm meeting
POLSON — James Kiser, CEO of Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, Jan. 10, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. He will speak on the state of healthcare and St. Joseph’s position in regard to a new clinic being constructed in Polson by Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Pachyderms meet at the Polson Rural Fire Department building west of the bridge on Regatta Road. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. with the business meeting starting at noon.
January Friendship Table Dinner planned
POLSON — Enjoy a free dinner at the Presbyterian Church’s Friendship Table Dinner on Jan. 10 from 5-7 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us. This dinner is free and open to all.

Meet drug-sniffing dog
POLSON — The newest member of the Mission Mountain Drug Taskforce, a canine named Llop, will make his debut at a public meeting held at the North Lake County Public Library in Polson on Monday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and meet the new team member with especially watchful eyes and a prominent nose.

Make time for herbs
POLSON — The next Thyme for Herbs meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the meeting room of the library in Polson. The topic for the month is “Understanding the Importance of Using Heirloom Seeds.” We will also discuss: planning your herb garden, growing herbs and herb seeds for profit, continuing to become familiar with using the “Herbal 9-1-1.”

“Western Night” chosen theme for community dance
POLSON — The next community dance at the Elks is on Jan. 15 from 7-10 p.m. “Western Night” is the theme for the night and Ken’s Country Combo will provide the entertainment. Treats are welcome. Come join the fun.

Free Italian dinner served
POLSON — On Thursday, Jan. 23, a free community dinner will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1 Seventh Ave. E. Dinner will be served between 6-7:30 p.m. and the menu will be Italian. All are welcome.
