POLSON — The community is invited to a public forum for Lake County Justice of the Peace candidates Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Polson High School auditorium. The forum will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
District begins policy review process
POLSON — The Polson School District Policy Committee will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3:45 p.m. in the school administration building conference room, located at 111 Fourth Ave., E. to review and update the district’s policies. This will be an ongoing process and monthly meetings will continue until all the policies have been reviewed. The community is welcomed and urged to participate in this important undertaking. The policies to be reviewed at this meeting are, #2160P-equivalency/comparability, #2221-school closure, #2312-copyright, #2312P copyright compliance, #2333-participation in commencement exercises, #2410P-High School graduation requirements, #3141-out of district student attendance, #5630-employee use of cellular phones and other electronic devices. Forum to be held in Rollins

Group to discuss herbs, wellness
POLSON — On Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. the next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will take place at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Avenue, E. (use the east side door). The topic for the meeting is “Herbal Remedies You Need to Stay Well.”
Many people are struggling with staying well. We will help you understand the nutritional and medicinal value of herbs in maintaining your health. Come hear a presentation and join in the discussion. Big Arm Historic School site of candidate forum
BIG ARM — A candidate forum will take place Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Big Arm Historic School. The Big Arm Association has invited the two candidates for Senate District 6, the two candidates for House District 11, and the two candidates for Lake County Commissioner to a forum in Big Arm.
The historic school, on Seventh Street, will be open at 6:30 p.m. and will start with an informal meet and greet over coffee.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. with Paul Maurer as moderator. Candidates will each have two minutes to introduce themselves and then will be given time to answer questions generated from local residents. We anticipate the forum will last at least one hour. Conferences, testing planned for Polson teachers
POLSON — On Oct. 18 and 19, the MEA/RTI Conference will take place. There will be no school for students. The Wonderlic testing for paraprofessional applicants will take place at 3 p.m. on Oct. 18 and at 9 a.m. on Oct. 19 at Polson Schools District Office conference room, 111 4th Ave., E.

Donations needed for annual rummage sale
VALLEY VIEW — The annual fall rummage sale for the Valley View Women’s Club will be Saturday, Oct. 20, from 11-3 a.m. We are in need of donations. Sixth annual 5K run sponsored by HealthCare Plus, Country Pasta
POLSON — HealthCare Plus and Country Pasta announce the sixth annual Live Locally 5K run to promote lung health awareness and national pasta month. We are pleased to announce all proceeds will be donated to Mission Valley Aquatics where one-day people of all ages can enjoy a healthy lifestyle utilizing our local swimming pool. All race participants will receive free pasta and the opportunity to win many great prizes. If you’re looking for a fast time and a scenic run, followed up with fabulous food and prizes, this race is for you. Join us at 10 a.m. on Oct. 20 at HealthCare Plus, 1 Seventh Ave. East. Yellow Bay Community Club holds rummage, bake sale
YELLOW BAY — The Yellow Bay Community Club will hold its 28th annual rummage and bake sale fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clubhouse is located on Highway 35 at mile marker 18.
Sale items include three high-end sewing/embroidery machines, quilting and craft supplies, fabrics and patterns, electric range, furniture household décor, an entertainment center with cabinets and shelving, dinette set, picnic table, and lots more.
Homemade desserts and sweets will be available at the bake sale; coffee is free all day.
Table space is still open and membership in the club is not required to participate. The club is also seeking rummage-sellers or donations of quality items.

POLSON — A free movie will be shown at North Lake County Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m., in the meeting room. The event is intended for all ages and is open to the public. Aquatic center project director to speak
RONAN — Tana Seeley, project director of Mission Valley Aquatics, the nonprofit organization building the new aquatic center in Polson, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, Oct. 26 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club.
The Lake County Pachyderm Club meets at the Rural Polson Fire Hall located on Airport Road west of the bridge in Polson. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. (bring a brown bag lunch). The business meeting starts promptly at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Donation event to benefit child with cancer
POLSON — A donation event to benefit Jade Marr, who has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, (a form of childhood cancer), is planned for Saturday, Oct. 27, from 4-8 p.m. at the Elks in Polson. A hearty stew dinner (gluten free) will be served for $8 per person, $25 per family (children 3-years and younger are free). The event includes a silent auction, a kids’ silent auction (12 years and younger) and a quilt raffle. Come help make something amazing happen and enjoy the evening with your family.

Evangelist to share story
POLSON — On Sunday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m., Polson Foursquare Church will host evangelist Mike Sauro. Sauro will tell his story of growing up in southern California and being a gang leader until years later in prison, God rescued him. Ever since he has been telling people how Jesus has made a difference in his life. He has helped start three churches and is here in Polson to share his story. All are welcome to attend.
