‘Counting’ on tap at library’s story time hour
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library hosts a special one-hour story time for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers every Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1p.m. This week's theme is "counting." Free Halloween carnival held at PHS gymnasium
POLSON — The Pumpkin Patch Bash will be at the Polson High School gymnasium on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. This totally-free carnival is designed for families with children in sixth grade and under. There will be a free family dinner, games, candy and giveaways. Don’t miss this amazing annual event, which is sponsored by the New Life Christian Center. Spooky fun to help needy children
POLSON — On Halloween night from 4-10 p.m., Rewind Dance Studio at 214 Main Street will hold a haunted-house, a bake sale, and a 50/50 raffle. The fee for children 11 years old and older is $5 and $3 for children 10 years old and younger. A portion of the proceeds will go to local children in need and the Make a Wish Montana Chapter.

‘The Uninvited’ continues over weekend
POLSON — The supernatural mystery "The Uninvited" by the Port Polson Players at the John Dowdall Theatre continues the weekend of Nov. 1-3. Curtain time is at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. for the matinee on Sunday. The Players promise a "haunting good time" featuring a classic ghost story. Mission Mountain Survivors hold benefit for Leni Trahan
POLSON — A chili feed, silent auction, and 50/50 drawing will be held to benefit Leniece “Leni” Trahan. Leni is a 12-year-old seventh grade student at Ronan Middle School, who was diagnosed in June with osteosarcoma, on her left knee (a common bone cancer in children). She had surgery on Sept. 12 and will continue chemotherapy through Jan. 1, 2014. Please join the Mission Mountain Survivors M.C., a N.P.O., on Nov. 2 at the Polson VFW Post #2986, 423 Main St., in the upstairs banquet room. The silent auction begins at 12 p.m. and the chili feed starts at 2 p.m. and goes until the chili is all gone. Chili will be $5/bowl or $20 for a family of 5. All children 3 and under are free.

Monsters needed for ‘Fun Run’
POLSON —Goblins, witches and ghouls of all sorts are invited to the “Monster Mash Fun Run” on Nov. 2 at Linderman Elementary School. The one-mile run/walk begins at 10 a.m. and the 5K starts at 10:30 a.m. Costumes are advised. The fun run will celebrate the end of “Red Ribbon” week.

Design meeting for psychiatric facility held
POLSON — Lake County has been awarded $125,000 from the Montana Department of Health and Human Services to plan and design a new six-bed psychiatric stabilization facility. Two community meetings about the program will be held Thursday, Nov. 7. The first meeting will be held from 2-3 p.m. in at the Victor Charlo Theater at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo. Another meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Byrnes Conference room at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, 6 Thirteenth Ave. E.

Fall bazaar, luncheon serves up dumplings
POLSON — The annual fall bazaar and luncheon is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Polson. The ever-popular apple dumpling is again the menu highlight. Soup and sandwiches topped off with a dumpling and ice cream are served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Art, homemade crafts and baked goods are sold from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. United Methodist women sponsor the event and use proceeds for local and church-wide mission projects. The church is located at 301 Sixteenth Ave. E. in Polson.

Event proceeds to benefit ‘Christmas for Kids’
POLSON — Please come and join us for a free event for kids in Lake County on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. in the lower level of the Masonic Lodge in Polson. There will be a Christmas craft and bake sale including rum cakes, homemade pies, candy, and homemade breads. Proceeds benefit "Christmas for Kids.” There will be a live auction from 2-4 p.m. The auction will include a Tim McGraw autographed electric guitar complete with a certificate of authenticity.

Learn to use herbs for better health
POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E. (use the east side door).
Our topic will be "Prevention is the Best Insurance. " We are learning to use herbs, foods, and other traditional remedies to prevent and handle health issues. We are continually becoming more familiar with how to use the "Herbal 9-1-1" materials in our everyday lives.
Come learn which herbs you need to have in your home and how to use them when you have a health issue. Anyone interested in learning to use herbs for better health is invited to join us. Bring your questions for discussion. If you have questions, please call Linda Peterson at (406) 319-2446.

Teacher conferences held
POLSON — Polson Middle School will hold parent teacher conferences on Nov. 12 and 13 from 4:30-8 p.m. Soup and rolls will be served from 4:30-7 p.m. for families attending conferences. Also, there will be a Scholastic book fair going on in the Polson Middle School library during conference times. Please come to meet teachers and support your child’s education.

POLSON — A “Resource Roundtable” meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Lake County Health Department conference room in Polson. Lunch will be provided. The next dance will be on Nov. 13, from 7 to 10. The place is the Elks Club in Polson, with one of the best dance floors around. Heart to Heart will be entertaining you with their sweet tunes. Remember, no joining needed, just bring treats and come and have fun.
Visually impaired support group to meet
POLSON — The Mission Valley Chapter of the Montana Association of the Blind will meet for lunch ($4) at the Polson Senior Citizens’ Center at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 13. A brief business meeting will follow lunch. Family, friends and drivers are welcome.
