Learn more about social security
POLSON — Why has social security always been a target and what can we do to make it stronger? Join us to learn more about the most successful anti-poverty program in America’s history, what made it sustainable for 78 years, as well as why and how it can remain that way. Elizabeth Marum of the Montana Organizing Project will present a program at the Lake County Democrats meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the North Lake County Library. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with the program starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited.

‘Thanksgiving’ chosen as story time theme
POLSON — North Lake County Public Library is hosting a special one-hour story time for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers, every Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The hour includes stories, songs, movement, crafts and more. POLSON — Youth with a Mission has several fundraisers for an upcoming mission trip to Guinea Bissau, West Africa. Elks host ‘Hoop Shoot’
POLSON — The Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest will take place Sunday, Nov. 24, at Linderman Gymnasium in Polson. Boys and girls ages 8-13 (on April 1, 2014) from Polson, Ronan and all the surrounding areas are eligible to participate. Free registration and warm starts at 12:30 p.m. and the contest begins at 1 p.m.
There is no cost to participate and no admission charged.

POLSON — Nov. 27 is the date of the Thanksgiving Eve Dance at the Elks. Heart to Heart will play their favorite tunes from 7-10 p.m. Treats are very welcome. Bring all your guests and friends.
Services, soup suppers offered at Good Shepherd, Wednesdays through 12/18
POLSON — A series of mid-week worship services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 409 4th Ave. E., begins with the Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. Advent soup suppers and services will be Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11 and 19.
Suppers will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the worship services begin at 6:30 p.m. The choir and youth group will meet after services at 7:15 p.m.

POLSON —Everyone in the Polson community is invited for a homemade Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Dinner is free, and all are welcome.

POLSON — Polson Community Church, 1814 First Street E., will hold their “Fifth Friday Dinner” on Nov. 29. Spaghetti will be ready at 4:30 p.m. to make sure you can eat and go home before dark. No turkey will be served.

Local cheese makers hold open house
POLSON — On Saturday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Flathead Lake Cheese, 208 First Ave. E (one block north of Highway 93), will hold an open house. Look for the dancing cheese head. There will be tours, tastings and previews of our holiday gift boxes.
