POLSON – Sandpiper member Heather Holmes will display a multi-media collection of Native American inspired art from art classes she taught with Cherry Valley and Linderman Elementary students including ledger art, totems, masks, mandalas, clay pots and sculptures. The show runs May 16-30. There will be a reception on Friday, May 22 from 5-7 p.m. Come in and show your support of our children.

POLSON — Sandpiper Gallery with have a non-juried show entitled “The ‘R’ in aRt” from April 6-May 16. The show features rodeos, ranching, railroads, reflections, raptors, rockets, roundups, robots, riding, raccoons, and radios... all things “R.” A reception will be held on April 10 from 5-7 p.m.

POLSON – The Annual Art Auction and Gala for the SKC Student Foundation is on May 2, 2015, at the KwaTaqNuk Resort. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception, a silent auction and a live auction preview. At 6:30 p.m. dinner, the live auction and the Student Fashion Show will take place. POLSON — The Northwest Montana Accordion Association will hold a jam session Sunday, May 3, from 2-5:30 p.m. at the VFW in Polson.

POLSON – On Sunday, May 3, at 2:30 p.m. Montana Co-op will celebrate International Permaculture Day by building and planting new vertical beds at our new community food hub site. Bring a potluck item, gloves, drills, and any plants to donate. Movies will be shown that are related to permaculture and will inspire you. There is a “Barefoot Church” service beforehand at 1 p.m. Build community and resilience through skill building, local food systems and education about best practices for a better world. Help beautify our corner of Fourth (410) and Main Street.

POLSON — Immaculate Conception Church is the site of Helping Hands’ Spring Music Festival on Sunday, May 3 at 4 p.m. Local musicians; church choirs and instrumentalists will all collaborate to provide music. A spaghetti dinner provided by the Knights of Columbus will follow the concert. Donations will be accepted for Helping Hands - an organization that helps provide emergency assistance to Lake County residents as well as folks traveling through our area. POLSON – On Tuesdays in May from 7:30-9 p.m. learn to transform urban lots, homesteads or farms to poly-cultural, abundant, and resilient systems while enhancing ecology and improving your community. This series explains permaculture, sustainable afro-ecology in a series explored at the Montana Co-op, Polson, 410 Main Street. There is no charge for classes but donations are accepted. The May 5 class is: Introduction-Design for Abundance in your backyard or farm including financial opportunities.

POLSON — The Lake County Republican Central Committee will hold its county convention for the election of officers for 2015-17 on Thursday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Polson Rural Fire Hall, Regatta Road. POLSON – St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Polson, 110 Sixth Ave., will have a yard sale on Friday, May 8, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

POLSON – The May Friendship Table Dinner is coming up on May 8 from 5-7 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School.  Come join us. This dinner is free and open to all.

POLSON — From 10 a.m.-5 p.m., on Saturday, May 9, on the corner of Main and Fourth, the Montana Co-op is hosting its first Spring Green event. This event introduces their health and wellness program and youth program. There will be displays and demonstrations of: magic, music, boxing, Yoga, chiropractics, massage, Zumba, and acupuncture along with delicious Co-op food.

The Co-op and Get Well Clinic will host a weeklong juice fast with registration at the Spring Green event.

POLSON — Come out and support Relay for Life and enjoy the Mother’s Day Mile fun run/walk on Saturday, May 9, with registration at 8 a.m. and race at 9 a.m. Registration and race start in front of Providence St. Joseph Medical Center on 13th Ave W. Pick up your registration form at the front desk at St. Joe’s. Prior to May 1, a family of three or more is $25, and individuals are $8. POLSON — The regular Polson school board meeting will take place on May 11, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office, 111 Fourth Ave. E.

POLSON – On Tuesday, May 12, from 7:30-9 p.m., the Permaculture Series continues with rainwater capturing, water management, Keyline design and grey-water options. This class takes place at the Montana Co-op, Polson 410 Main Street. There is no charge for classes but donations are accepted. 

POLSON – The next Resource Roundtable meeting is on May 13 at noon in the Lake County Health Department Conference Room. Lunch will be provided and the topic for the day is: “Community Profile-Violence and other crimes...how do we compare?” Join us and bring a friend.

POLSON — Heart to Heart will play for the Community Dance on Wednesday, May 13. 

POLSON — Come gather some wisdom from the experts at Delaney’s through their Seminar Series. Sessions are every Thursday through the spring season at 5:30 p.m. The sessions are free and open to the public. The session on Thursday, May 14 is titled: “Hanging Basket Care-Keep Them Beautiful All Summer.”

POLSON — “A Brief History of the Mission Mountains Wilderness” by Dr. Kari Gunderson, adjunct research professor in the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana, will be Mission Mountain Audubon’s next evening program on Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Everyone is welcome.

POLSON– On Thursday, May 14, Miracle of America Museum will show “To Hell and Back,” a 1955 feature length movie starring Audie Murphy as himself during his service in WWII. This film depicts his true actions, which earned him the distinction of being the most decorated soldier in American history.
