Fundraiser for group heading to Africa
POLSON — A fundraiser, including root beer floats and a silent auction will be held at Glacier Brewery, 6 Tenth Ave., on July 4, after the parade. This is for a Polson group heading to South Africa to build a home for a family caring for children orphaned by the AIDS crisis. They will work with Mosaic (www.mosaicsa.org).
Ice cream social planned
POLSON — The Polson Historical Museum on Main Street will hold their annual ice cream social on July 4, following the Polson 4th of July parade.
Polson plans full agenda for the Fourth of July
POLSON — Polson’s 4th of July Parade will begin at noon on Thursday, July 4. Entry forms for the parade can be picked up at Polson Chamber of Commerce office. Completed forms should be returned to the chamber office at 418 Main St. by July 3. The Polson Chamber of Commerce will have a fireworks fundraising lemonade and bake sale to help support the 2013 Fireworks Display. The fundraiser will be in the front yard of the Polson Chamber building from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on July 4. Polson’s fifth annual “Firecracker 1 Mile Fun Run” will start at 11:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center. The cost is a non-perishable food item to be donated to Polson Loaves and Fishes. Church holds rummage-bazaar sale

Bri’s Memorial Run/Walk proceeds to help family
POLSON — Bri’s 5K Memorial Run/Walk will be held Saturday, July 6, beginning at 9 a.m. at Polson High School. This event is in memory of Brianne Paro-Sias Pacheco, a PHS Class of 1998 graduate. Everyone is welcome, runners, walkers, or simply supporters. A memorial tribute will follow the run at the Polson High School Stadium. Registration is $25. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Bri’s husband and three daughters. Creamery hosts open house

Churches invite children to summer event
POLSON — The United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church invite children to ‘Kingdom Rock: Where Kids Stand Strong for God.” This summer kids’ event takes place in Polson and will be hosted at United Methodist Church from July 8 - July 12. Kids at Kingdom Rock will join an international missions effort to share God’s love with children in India. Kingdom Rock is for kids from preschool to sixth grade. Kids in seventh grade and up will participate in service projects around the Polson area. The camp will run from 8:30-11:30 each day. For more information, call (406) 883-6161.

POLSON — There will be a Polson School Board meeting on Monday, July 8, at the district office, 111 Fourth Ave. E. at 5:30 p.m.
Vacation Bible School welcomes all
POLSON — Fellowship Baptist Church, on the corner of Seventh Avenue, E. and Main Street, invites children kindergarten-eighth grade to Vacation Bible School July 8-12 from 9 a.m.-noon. All are welcome for bible lessons, crafts, games and treats.

Herb group invites interested persons
POLSON — The “Thyme for Herbs Group” will meet Tuesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, 2 First Ave. E (east door).

Final bow hunter class offered
POLSON — The last Bow Hunter Education class for 2013 in Lake County is scheduled for Friday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 13, at 8:30 sharp. Both sessions are at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 409 Fourth Ave. Students must attend both sessions and pass the written test. There is no cost for the class. Friendship dinner served
POLSON — There will be a free dinner served at Polson Presbyterian Church on July 12 from 5-7 p.m. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Everyone is invited to this free “Friendship Table Dinner.”

Public invited to peace workshop
POLSON — The Lake County Greens and peace groups across Montana invite the public to a workshop featuring Rev. Sam Smith, chair of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, on the militarization of American youth and the “I Will Not Kill” campaign, on Sunday, July 14, at Sacajawea Park. POLSON — P.E.O. Mission Mountain Reciprocity Group invites all P.E.O. members to its annual brown-bag lunch at Boettcher Park, Tuesday, July 16, at noon. This no-host picnic welcomes all P.E.O. members who may be visiting the area, along with members of local Chapters AI, BY, BS, AND CA.
P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women by providing educational scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College.
