‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Faith Lutheran to hold special services on Easter

RONAN — Faith Lutheran Church will have special services on Easter Sunday. The early service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The second service will begin at 11 a.m. with special music by Dixie and Tom Hall. Fellowship invites all to Rocky Butte sunrise service

RONAN — Lighthouse Christian Fellowship’s sunrise Easter service will be at Rocky Butte in Ronan at 7 a.m. followed by a potluck brunch in the Lighthouse Café at 8:30 a.m. There will only be one worship service starting at 10 a.m. Please bring your favorite breakfast dish to share.

RONAN — The Ronan Pablo Education Association will be hosting a candidate forum on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Ronan Performing Arts Center, for the upcoming Ronan School District #30 school board trustee election. All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The student council will be hosting a spaghetti feed prior to the forum in the RMS Commons beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Kindergarten Round Up holds pre-registration

RONAN — Mark your calendars for the Ronan School District #30 Kindergarten Round Up pre-registration. This registration is for the upcoming 2014/2015 school year and will be held at the Ronan Middle School on Thursday, April 24, from 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. To be eligible for kindergarten, a student must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 10, 2014. Parents must bring the birth certificate and immunization record for their child. Children, who will be registering, will be screened in hearing, speech, vision and school readiness skills. For your convenience, immunizations will be provided, as needed. Registration and screening should be completed in approximately one hour, so please plan accordingly.

Eat pizza Fridays, support library

RONAN — Friday night is “Pizza Night” for the Ronan Library District at the Pizza Cafe in Ronan. Come have a great pizza and support the library at the same time. A portion of all pizza sales, for each Friday night in the month of May, will be donated to the Friends of the Ronan Library. Pizza Café is located at 62953 Highway 93 in Ronan.

A cappella group performance to benefit youth home

RONAN — Big Productions, a fundraising venture of the Cantlon Family Youth Home, (formerly the Lake County Youth Home), is going A cappella in May. The Montana A Cappella Society will perform a relaxing evening of music, featuring songs from the 1600s to modern classics. All music will be presented A Cappella. The artists will also showcase a special tribute to our Armed Forces.

The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. 

The event is being co-sponsored by Bill Barron.

Annual Starving Artists’ Show arranged at Willard’s

RONAN — Willard’s will host the sixth annual Starving Artists’ Show on Saturday, May 3. The show and silent auction will start at noon, with an artists’ reception from 5-7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Ronan Senior Center. Help clean up Ronan

RONAN — On Saturday, May 3, the Community of Ronan and the Ronan Area Chamber will hold its annual Spring Cleaning Day. Meet at 9 a.m. at City Park to pick up garbage bags, gloves, donuts and a hot cup of coffee to get you going. There will be a construction-size box dumpster donated by Republic Services located at City Park near the Fire Hall, available for dropping off approved trash items and full trash bags.

Kicking Horse to hold 34th powwow

RONAN — The 34th annual Kicking Horse Job Corps Center Powwow will be held May 3 in at the campus’s gymnasium from 1-11 p.m. A free dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. There will be an all-ages Prairie Chicken contest for $50, $100, and $250, and a children’s carnival.

Pool Tournament to benefit SAFE Harbor

RONAN — The Spring Fling Pool Tournament benefiting SAFE Harbor will be held May 3 at the Club Bar in Ronan. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the tournament starts at 11 a.m. The Mission Valley Players Association sanctions this tournament. This will be a singles event. The entry fee is $20 and includes a taco bar and raffle prize tickets. The games will be 8-ball, ball in hand, blind draw, A & B handicap. For questions concerning handicap rules, contact Bill Steele at (406) 890-5911. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, prize boards, a Piñata, and small prize drawings.
