POLSON — The Sandpiper Gallery hosts a non-juried, open show entitled “Harvest Time,” celebrating fall and harvest time. Artistic interpretation of the theme in any medium is accepted. The show runs Sept. 24-Nov. 8.

RONAN — The public is invited to the annual Lincoln-Reagan Dinner Oct. 5, sponsored by the Lake County Republican Central Committee, Lake County Republican Women and the Lake County Pachyderms. This Great Harvest Dinner honors the legacies of Presidents Lincoln and Reagan.  This event will be held at the Ronan Community Center with a social hour beginning at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and buffet dinner catered by Linda Vista to begin at 7 p.m. Keynote speaker is Montana Congressman Steve Daines. There will be a silent and live auction with many appealing items such as a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun, a Ruger 30-30, a WWII 30-06 and Griz paraphernalia.  Tickets are $25/person. POLSON — The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” is Monday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room, (2 First Ave. E- use the east side door). 

Flu season is upon us, so we are concentrating our studies on building a healthy immune system and continuing our “Herbal 911 Studies”. We are learning which herbs we need to have in our homes and how to use them when we have a health issue. Planning ahead could prevent those discomforts, which seem to come with fall and winter. Anyone interested in learning to use herbs for better health is invited to join us. Bring your questions for discussion.

POLSON — The National Association of Retired and Active Federal Employees will meet on Oct. 9 at the Polson Senior Center at 11:30 a.m. A meal of soft shell tacos will be available. The program will feature Chuck Lewis, formally a marine sergeant, who will tell about his adventures walking from Everett, Wash. to the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C. this summer. A short business meeting will follow.

POLSON — Greg Hertz, the featured speaker at the Friday, October 11, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club, will discuss the dramatic changes that have taken place in the grocery industry over the last fifty years. In 1998 he became the majority owner and President/CEO of Moody’s Market Inc. Greg also serves as the Montana State Representative for House District 11. Pachyderms meet at the Polson Rural Fire Hall on Regatta Road, west of Polson. The meeting begins with a social time and brown bag lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the business meeting begins at noon.

POLSON — The Lake County Chapter 1122 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will be hosting Young Eagles Flights at Polson Airport on Saturday morning, October 12, from 9-11 a.m. All kids between the ages of 8 and 17 years of age, with their parents’ approval, can get a ride in an airplane free. Coffee, donuts, and juice will be available. All of this is weather dependent. Kids, grab your parents (or parents grab your kids) and come on out to the Polson airport Saturday morning and the EAA will give you an opportunity to go flying.

ST. IGNATIUS — A benefit Indian taco feed and silent auction will be held at the St. Ignatius Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 5-8 p.m.

Proceeds will help Christopher DuMontier, 32, a 2000 Two Eagle River graduate and SKC heavy equipment truck operator graduate. DuMontier was involved in a car wreck while working in North Dakota. The life-threatening collision left him paralyzed from the neck down. Proceeds and donations will help cover costs associated with medical care, help provide a ramp for his home and a van with a wheelchair lift. An Indian taco and drink will cost $8 and a slice of Gramma Patty’s Pie will sell for $3, or $4.50 for pie a la mode. The fundraiser includes music and a 50/50 raffle. For further donations, an account is set up at Valley Bank under Christopher DuMontier. A November 5-on-5 basketball tournament benefit is also being planned at SKC.

VALLEY VIEW — The Valley View Women are having a Ladies Get Acquainted Day. PABLO — Confused about Obamacare and the health exchanges?  Have your questions addressed at the Affordable Care Act Forum sponsored by the Lake County Democrats. The presentation seeks to help Montanans understand how the law works and answer questions or concerns about Obamacare, including new insurance reforms and the healthcare exchanges. The program will be on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Late Louie Caye Building at the Salish Kootenai College in Pablo. Social begins at 6:30 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by a brief business meeting and the program.
