‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Spaghetti dinner raises funds for senior nutrition program

RONAN —The nutrition program at the Mission Vallley Senior Citizens Center in Ronan, 528 Main St. (across from St. Luke Medical Center), is having a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Oct. 19, between 4-7 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, or $20 for a family. This fundraiser helps defray the cost of running the nutrition program for our seniors. All are invited to attend.

Taste wine, get educated about wine aging

DAYTON — Mission Mountain Winery encourages all wine lovers to attend our free event on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Vertical tasting is a part of the winery’s continuing program to educate the community about the aging and care of fine wine. It is the presentation of wine from older to younger vintages allowing one to see the effects of time upon a wine. Mission Mountain Winery is located on Highway 93 in Dayton.

Ronan Faith Lutheran celebrates 75th anniversary

RONAN — The Ronan Faith Lutheran Church will celebrate its 85th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 20. The worship service begins at 10 a.m. with an ensemble of guitars, bass, drums and piano providing the music. Four former pastors and the bishop of the synod will be present and participating in the service.

Following the service there will be a dinner and an anniversary program. Each pastor will give a greeting and there will be a brief history of the church given. The program will conclude with entertainment and a “jar” raffle. If anyone wishes to attend the dinner, please call the church to sign up.

Governor Bullock to visit Lake County

RONAN — Montana Governor Steve Bullock will be the guest speaker at the Lake County Democrats Fall Fundraiser at the Mission Mountain Country Club on Round Butte Road in Ronan. The event will take place on Monday, Oct. 21, starting at 6 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and includes a meat/vegetarian lasagna dinner, catered by Cheri’s Kitchen Catering. Lutheran Church prepares harvest dinner

POLSON — The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its annual Harvest Dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lefse, salad and dessert from 4:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the church fellowship hall. The cost for the dinner is $9 per adult, $4 per child under 10 years. Fair trade coffee will also be available for purchase. Dinner proceeds will benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Lake County and Polson Loaves and Fish Food Pantry.

Join the fun, festive walk

Themed awards are given to winners in each age group; many drawing prizes are given away to participants; and all runners, spectators and volunteers are treated to a free spaghetti lunch. Brought to you by Polson Running, HealthCare Plus and Country Pasta, this event focuses on encouraging a healthy local environment. All proceeds from this year’s race will be donated to the Polson Youth Soccer Association.

Properly dispose of prescription drugs during ‘take back’ program

POLSON — In conjunction with “Red Ribbon Week,” Linderman Elementary is encouraging participation in a prescription drug "take back” on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Polson City Hall building. Properly dispose of your unused or expired prescription medications and have a conversation with your child about the affects of drugs and alcohol.

ST. IGNATIUS — A SSC Halloween family event is planned for Oct. 30 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the St. Ignatius High School Commons. There will be trick-or-treating in the high school, with refreshments and candy for the family along with fun Halloween crafts. A parent or guardian must accompany all children.
