‘Park After Dark’ winter hike offered at Lone Pine State Park

KALISPELL — On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from  7:30-9 p.m. experience Lone Pine State Park on a wintery night on this full moon hike. Moon views vary depending on cloud cover, but you’re guaranteed a nighttime adventure that experiences the park after hours. Be sure to dress for the weather. Trails are typically icy at this time of year, so wear micro spikes like Yaktrax if there’s snow on the ground. We’ll have snowshoes available if needed. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp. Call the visitor center at 406-755-2706, ext. 0, to register, as space is limited. Cost is $4 per hiker ($8 entry fee for non-resident vehicles).

 

‘Prepare to be Bear Aware’ education class offered at Lone Pine

 

 

KALISPELL — On Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, you can learn safety tips and tools to keep people safe and bears wild as they emerge from their dens this spring. Join us as we share practical strategies designed to minimize bear-human conflicts and promote coexistence. From securing garbage bins to proper food storage techniques, we will share provide invaluable insights into creating bear-resistant environments. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn, connect, and take action for the well-being of all. Registration is required as space is limited. There is no charge for this program. Arlee to hold free screening clinic

ARLEE — A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Arlee School District will be held on Oct. 29, 2024, from 9 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at Arlee Elementary School. This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

Attend ‘Here Comes the Sun’ Concert

POLSON — The Polson Fairground Amphitheatre is the site of the “Here Comes the Sun” concert. This concert celebrates the sounds and songs of the Beatles at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be on site at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

 

Church holds annual Craft Fair/Garage Sale

POLSON - The fourth annual vendor/craft fair and garage sale will take place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave. E. A hot dog lunch will be available for $2 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information call 406-250-1061. 

 

Country Jam, dances cancelled

POLSON — Our Classic Country Jammin’ scheduled for April 5, at the Elks Ballroom in Polson is cancelled until further notice. Wednesday night dances at the Elks’ ballroom in Polson are also cancelled until further notice. We pray that everyone is staying home and being safe. We do have to go out for essentials and that is okay. Lake City Bakery, McDonalds and Burgerville are open in Polson for take outs. We are all in this together and need to help each other wherever we can, physically or financially. Please encourage one another and we will all get through this. Don’t be prideful and not ask for help, if you really need it. This hardship we are going through may take a little time but if we all work together and for each other, it will pass. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Donation day planned at library

POLSON —Friends of the Library will hold their donation day on Nov. 2 for the month of November. You can donate up to two boxes of books per donation. Flathead Lake 3-on-3 tournament wraps up

POLSON — Flathead Lake 3-on-3 basketball tournament will take place July 27-29, on Main Street in Polson. The basketball tournament will have 300 teams. Vacation Bible school offered in Polson

POLSON — A community-wide vacation Bible school will be held Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Polson. The camp is for all children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. There is no charge, but a freewill offering will be taken daily. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch. The VBS camp will include worship, Bible study, music, arts and crafts, snacks and games.

This year’s day camp will be hosted at First Presbyterian, 301 Fourth Ave. E. Co-sponsors are Good Shepherd Lutheran and First United Methodist Church. Counselors from Glacier Presbyterian Camp at Flathead Lake will lead the activities this year.

Free flights offered at Ronan airport

RONAN — In conjunction with Ronan Pioneer Days and the Fair, the Lake County Chapter No. 1122 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will be hosting Young Eagles Flights at Ronan Airport (7S0) on Saturday morning, Aug. 4, starting at 9 a.m. All kids between the ages of 8 and 17, with their parents’ approval, can get a ride in an airplane free of charge.

POLSON — “Going for the gold” is the theme for Polson Foursquare Church’s vacation Bible school planned for Aug. 6-10. Activities include soccer, art and cheer camp, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.

Sports physicals offered

RONAN — Sports physicals for the 2012-13 school year will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Ronan Events Center commons. Physicals are $25 and are provided by multiple doctor and nurse stations from St. Luke Community Health. Parental signatures are required, and proceeds from the clinic go to area booster clubs.

Cruising takes place by the Bay

POLSON — Cruising by the Bay Events begin Friday, Aug. 10 and continue through Saturday, Aug. 11. Friday registration goes from noon to 5 p.m. at Riverside Park (Hwy. 93). Watch for sign and parking attendants. Events include a Poker Run from noon-5 p.m., the “cruise” starts at 5 p.m. at Riverside Park, and the parade starts at 6 p.m. On Saturday registration goes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. - watch for signs. Events for the day include a Poker Walk from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and a Kids’ Carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the corner of Main Street and Fifth Avenue. The award ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in front of the information booth with the “Parade of Winners.” The Bop-A-Dips will provide a free concert Saturday evening from 7-10 p.m. at Riverside Park. Church to host Polynesian, hip-hop dance fundraiser

RONAN —The fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11, from 7-9:30 p.m., at Terrace Lake Community Church on Terrace Lake Road, is to help JoLeah Nicholas attend a hip hop dance school in Vancouver, British Columbia in September. The fundraiser will feature Nicholas performing Polynesian and hip hop routines. Appetizers and desserts will be served. This is a “free will” offering fundraiser. Community invited to ‘vertical tasting’ of wine

DAYTON — Mission Mountain Winery encourages all wine lovers to attend our free event, vertical tasting of Mission Mountain Winery Cabernet Sauvignon on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is part of the winery’s continuing program to educate the community about the aging and care of fine wine. Vertical tasting is the presentation of wine from older to younger vintages allowing you to see the effects of time upon a wine from the same place. We will start off with a 2002 vintage Mission Mountain Winery Cabernet Sauvignon followed by the 2003, 2004 and 2006 vintages.  Mission Mountain Winery is located on Highway 93 in Dayton on the west shore of beautiful Flathead Lake.

POLSON — The 41st Annual Sandpiper Lake County Art Festival takes place on the Polson Courthouse lawn Saturday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conjunction with “Cruisin’ By the Bay” Vintage Car Show.
