Gallery presents new exhibit through Sept. 20
POLSON — Sandpiper Gallery’s exhibit “Yin and Yang: Functional and Abstract” features basketry; leather; fiber; clay and abstract art by Brigitte Miller; Holly Wurl; Mary Sale; Jean Stromnes; Margery Christensen; Nancy Gordon and invited Lakeside fiber artist Joan Renne. The exhibit runs Aug. 13-Sept. 20 with a reception Friday, Aug. 16, from 5-7 p.m.

St. Joseph Medical Center hosts weekly class for caregivers through Sept. 18
POLSON — A “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” class is scheduled for Wednesdays, from 10-11:30 a.m., Aug. 15-Sept. 18 at the O’Maley meeting room in Providence St. Joseph Medical Center.. There is no fee for the class. It is sponsored by the Area VI Agency on Aging, St. Joe’s, and Lake Co. Extension Service, to help caregivers take care of themselves, better understand their emotions, communicate more effectively, and find local resources. Learn history, lifestyles of Native people
PABLO – Native American Awareness Days, at the People’s Center in Pablo, is the week of Sept. 17-20. Open to the public, the event’s purpose is to educate the community on lifestyles and history of the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d’ Oreille people. Museum extras make Constitution Day a special event
POLSON — Constitution Day, called on some calendars Citizenship Day, is Tuesday, Sept. 17. The Miracle of America Museum will stay open until 7 pm that day and is offering lecture tours of the Revolutionary War display and the Constitution Displays at no extra cost. Free pocket copies of the Constitution will be given to participants.

Meeting to focus on education issues
PABLO — Lake County Democrats’ monthly meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 18. in the Michel Building at Salish Kootenai College. The meeting will focus on a variety of education issues in Montana. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a social followed by a brief business meeting at 7 p.m. The program includes a panel discussion by local educators. The public is welcome.
