J.C. Courville, a local veteran and member of the Mission Valley Honor Guard repaints a white cross that marks the site of a fatal accident. He said that while the idea has been taken up by other states around the nation, veterans in Montana were the first to build, plant and maintain these markers. The crosses serve to remember the departed and remind motorists to drive carefully.
