With the continual increase in COVID-19 cases in Lake and surrounding counties, we have taken a few stricter measures to help protect our staff and patrons and to help keep us open. We are asking everyone to keep their visit to 30 minutes or less. For those needing to do essential work on a computer, we are allowing up to one hour in our study rooms. Essential work would include things like filing for unemployment, writing a resume, taking an exam, or doing work for your job. We are monitoring traffic and trying to keep the number of patrons in the building at one time to no more than 10. Masks have always been required in the building and must be worn at all times over the nose and mouth. ...

Postal service deals with a lot

Editor,  This letter is a “thank you” to Kim our letter carrier in Mission. On any given day, we receive eight to 10 political ads, plus our regular mail. On this particular day, we received 16. This is unbelievable, and the assault on our postal service is ridiculous. Our postal service ...

Voter doesn’t drink Kool-aid

Editor, To my Republican friends: I support family values; I’m voting for decency, respect, compassion and honesty. I align with smaller government. I’m voting for women’s rights in healthcare decisions. I agree with lowering taxes for middle and low income workers; I disagree with ta...

Sign was set up by locals

Editor, I am writing in response to a letter published Oct. 14 by Dayna McClure regarding the Drain the Swamp, Vote Republican sign. McClure is confused and he is also mistaken.    The sign has nothing to do with Super One Foods. It is on Scenic Lane with approval from all of the Scenic Lane ...

Slices of Life

When it comes to driving, I’ve always allowed my husband to take control of the wheel. Sitting in the passenger seat is so much easier than differentiating the brake from the gas pedal or driving between the lines, so I figure I’ve gotten the better end of that deal. But with driving comes the ot...

Will we hold Steve Daines to account

In my recent tenure as Chair of the Flathead Basin Commission, I wrote several opinion pieces raising concerns about Steve Bullock’s administration. I have a public record of criticizing Bullock. Yet, I am writing today to urge you to vote for the governor, and send Senator Daines packing. Here’s...

Blessings counted, preventative action encouraged

The drive from Big Sandy to Great Falls is awfully familiar to our family. Jon drives those 70-some miles twice a week as he travels between our farm and the Senate. Often we drive together — for farm parts, haircuts, you name it. The drive is second nature. But lately, it has taken on a new meaning. ...

Salomon is best choice for SD 47

Editor, Dan Salomon, candidate for re-election to the Montana State Senate in SD47, continues to serve the people of his district and the State of Montana with distinction. He has served as chairman of the Senate Education Committee, vice-chair of the House Business and Labor Committee, vice-chair of the ...

Signs are not on store property

Editor, In the 10/14/20 issue of the Valley Journal there was a letter to the editor from Dayna McClure about a “Drain the Swamp” sign. The writer claimed this sign was on Super 1 Foods property, that is not correct just as it was not correct in 2016. This sign, although close to one of our en...

Dayton Daze organizers planning for next year

Editor, The Chief Cliff Volunteer Fire Department and QRU would like to thank everyone who contributed prizes and goods, purchased raffle tickets and gave of their time and energy to help make Dayton Daze another huge success. Although the number of event-goers was down due to COVID-19, those who did a...
