Warm meal served at Soup’s On   

POLSON — Polson Community Church will serve lunch on March 12 at Journey Be Christian Church, 101 Seventh Ave. W, at the SW corner of First St. W. The church’s phone number is 406-883-6160. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and will consist of two homemade soups; one with meat and one without, along with salad, homemade rolls, desserts and coffee.  The lunch is provided to help feed those of us who are less fortunate and need a good warm home cooked meal. All are welcome and please know that religion is not spoken of unless you ask. It is a place to come, enjoy a good meal, be warm and enjoy yourselves. There is no charge for anyone, but for those who can and would like to donate to help keep the kitchen open for those in need, contributions will be accepted and are very much appreciated.  

Mission Valley Has Talent 

POLSON — Put Mission Valley Has Talent 2020 on the calendar for 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at Polson High School Auditorium. Arrive early to get a good seat.

The talent show registration deadline is passed and auditions are set to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, in the Polson High School music room. A session is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, from 3:30-7 p.m., for contestants to learn how to use the microphone in the auditorium. 

Spotlight entertainers include Mission Valley Children’s Choir, a magic show by Ken Avison and Tribal Waves performing traditional Samoan and Hawaiian dance and drumming. 

Final contestants must attend a rehearsal at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the high school auditorium to prepare for the final event at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13.

Governor Bullock to announce $6 million grant for AEDs

HELENA– On Thursday, Feb. 27, Governor Steve Bullock will announce a $6 million grant (provided by the Helmsley Charitable Trust) to provide 2,200 lifesaving Automatic External Defibrillators to law enforcement across Montana. The AEDs will help first responders rapidly respond to patients in cardiac arrest.

Law enforcement is often first on the scene, especially in rural areas. Studies show patients defibrillated by law enforcement have a higher rate of survival. The announcement will take place during the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Game Warden Training Seminar to be held in Helena.

There is help available with your computers, smartphone, E-Readers, online navigation, etc. Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling 406-676-3682. You will need to bring in your device for personalized assistance during your appointment.

USDA announces updates for honeybee producers

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency today announced updates to the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-Raised Fish Program. These updates include changes required by the 2018 Farm Bill as well as discretionary changes intended to improve the administration of the program and clarify existing program requirements.

Commissioners host meeting about water rights

LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Commissioners will host a community town hall meeting entitled, “Unpacking the Montana Water Rights Protection Act,” on Wednesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ronan Community Center. Commissioners will present a summary of the 65-page Act and provide details as to how some of the provisions of the Act will negatively impact Lake County and its residents. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, as well as Senators Daines and Tester, have been allotted time to present their reasons for supporting passage of the Act by Congress during the Town Hall.
