News from Jennifer Rolfsness, Helping Hands administrator

LAKE COUNTY – We here at Helping Hands are eager to return to life as it was before the pandemic. That won’t happen anytime soon, at least until we have widespread immunity.

What we need to establish is a new “normal” built on new routines, innovative ideas and new resources. Some things may have changed forever like the need for shopping and dropping for our high-risk population, elders and families in need and curbside pick-up of goods. More learning may be done at home.

Regaining a bit of pre-shutdown life is possible if we all adapt and respect boundaries. Our Helping Hands office will be back open to the public on Monday, May 4, for scheduled appointments, which are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday by calling 406-883-8256.

Walk-in appointments are not available due to the limited number of people that can be in our shared waiting area. We will continue to help with emergent needs such as transportation vouchers, grocery vouchers, personal-care items, community cradles, clothing, thrift store vouchers and resource referrals. Our Shop & Drop team is assembled and willing to help those who can’t risk going out or don’t have the financial ability.

We wish our communities and neighbors good health and will continue to join hands to serve those in their time of need.
