A St. Ignatius man pleaded guilty at District Court in Polson on May 13 to issuing a bad check, which is theft-by-common-scheme and is a felony. Kane Olson, 20, was initially charged with two counts of issuing a bad check, but the charges were amended to theft-by-common-scheme as part of a plea agreement that allows for restitution to both victims and a time for reflecting on the fact that two bad checks were written. According to court records, Olson wrote a check on June 21, 2019, for the amount of $1,046.76 to purchase hay.
