BOZEMAN — After exhibiting mild symptoms on Sunday, April 4, and out of an abundance of caution, Governor Greg Gianforte today was tested for COVID-19 and received a positive result.

Following his doctor’s instructions and public health guidance, the governor is isolating for 10 days.

The governor has notified all individuals with whom he may have had close contact. His wife has since also tested positive for COVID-19.

All of the governor’s in-person events have been canceled until further notice, and the governor will continue to conduct his duties and manage the state’s business from his home in Bozeman.

U.S. SENATE — Senator Daines announced his Senate resolution designating the week of April 17- 25, as ‘‘National Park Week.”

Senator Daines said, “Our national parks are what set America apart from the rest of the world—they’re our office of first impression. In Montana, we’re so lucky to have national parks that bring people from around the world to visit and explore what Big Sky Country has to offer. This National Park Week, I encourage Montanans and all Americans to safely visit, experience, and support the treasured national parks of our country and see the natural beauty America has to offer.”

Senator Daines is the Ranking Member, aka the top Republican, of the Senate Subcommittee on National Parks. This is the fifth year Senator Daines has led this effort.

Daines, Rosendale comment on Biden gun actions

News from the offices of Senator Daines and Representative Rosendale

MONTANA —  In response to President Biden’s executive actions limiting the gun rights of Montanans, Senator Daines issued this statement:  “More gun control is not the answer. It infringes on the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens and doesn’t go after criminals. Some of the most violent cities in America have some of the strictest gun control laws — they don’t work. Democrats want to defund the police and limit the rights of law abiding citizens, while Republicans want to support our law enforcement and protect the Second Amendment.”

Representative Rosendale made the following statement: “The Second Amendment clearly states that we as Americans have the right to keep and bear arms. The new Biden administration executive orders are just one more attempt to attack our constitutional right. They represent yet another chapter in Democrats continued failure to blame criminals who commit heinous acts, while punishing law-abiding citizens.”
