LAKE COUNTY – The Board of Lake County Commissioners voted unanimously to direct Election Administrator Katie Harding to prepare to conduct the Nov. 3 general election by mail ballot.
Early voting begins on Oct. 2 and can be done in person at the elections office, located at the Lake County Courthouse, Room 121, 106 4th Avenue East.
Ballots will be mailed to all active voters on Oct. 9. Ballots will have prepaid postage, or voters may return their ballots to the election’s office.
The decision came after a lengthy discussion about the numerous obstacles due to COVID-19 that would make it difficult to abide by social distancing and sanitation guidelines that potentially might compromise the safety of voters and workers.
The Board of Lake County Commissioners will vote to adopt a resolution to conduct the November general election by mail on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the commissioner’s chambers at the Lake County Courthouse.
