News from Sloan Stinson for the MT Dept. of Transportation

RONAN — Riverside Contracting Inc. crews will continue concrete work this week. This includes pouring concrete for property approaches on the southbound couplet, the short segment of roadway connecting 1st Avenue to US Highway 93 (US 93), and the sidewalks along the southbound couplet and Round Butte Road. Fencing installation will also continue along US 93.

Lane closures are not anticipated for these activities. All work is dependent on weather and other unforeseen factors.

Crews will be onsite through Friday, Oct. 20, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Paving operations on the Ronan-North project are anticipated to resume the week of Oct. 23, weather permitting. The final layer of pavement will be installed at that time.

Unrelated to this project, the City of Ronan will continue work to install a water pipe across Terrace Lake Road East in front of the Ronan Indian Senior Center next week. Terrace Lake Road E will be closed at the intersection with US 93.

When traveling through the construction zone, slow down, follow all traffic control, and watch for workers and equipment. The speed limit remains at 35 mph. Please remember to follow posted speed limits when driving through the project site.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Email: sloane@bigskypublicrelations.com or call the project hotline at 406-207-4484, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on the Ronan-North project, visit: www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/ronanurban/updates.aspx.

Slow Down, Montana! Safe, Cautious Driving Saves Lives

Speeding and other reckless driving behaviors create unsafe conditions for you and others traveling Montana’s roads. Even if you are abiding by posted speed limits, you can still be traveling too fast for safety – particularly in inclement weather, low/no light conditions, or around emergency response or work zone sites. One simple and effective way to protect all roadway users is to lower your speed when driving a motor vehicle. In the event of a crash, the higher the speed of the vehicle(s) involved, the more deadly the collision – especially when a vulnerable roadway user is involved (pedestrian, bicyclist, motorcyclist, etc.). While driving a motor vehicle, remember to always follow posted speed limits, adjusting your speed as needed for current conditions, and keep your focus on the road ahead and the task of driving to help ensure we all reach our destinations safely.
