POLSON — “244”, said the hotel clerk as he passed the key card and campus map across the desk.

Looking at the map, I thought of that lab rat in the maze.

“I don’t suppose there’s an elevator.”

“Back in 1970 when this place was built, I guess they didn’t figure an elevator was necessary.”

“Back in 1970 I wouldn’t have thought it was necessary, either.”

Following Fran, I found the room. She has a built-in compass. Me? I have trouble finding the freeway the next morning.

Anyway, our trip to Minnesota to visit the kids was fun. A much needed attitude adjustment.

You probably noticed that I screwed up the menu calendar two weeks ago. I had the baked chicken for Wednesday, not Tuesday. And the dates were wrong. I always say there are three kinds of people; those who can count and those who can’t. We still had a fabulous turnout for lunch on Tuesday.

Don’t forget the AARP Driving Class on Tuesday, Oct. 14. If you are in need of this class call us here at the center and we’ll get you on the list.

Just a little reminder: the veterans’ representative will no longer be here at the center until further notice.  If you need to contact them please feel free to call Carolyn at (406) 755-3795 and she will be more than happy to visit with you.

The lunch menu for the coming week is as follows:

•  Thursday, October 9: burger Swiss steak with rice

•  Monday, Oct. 13: sausage gravy

•  Tuesday, Oct. 14: baked ham

•  Wednesday, Oct. 15: enchiladas

Lunches are served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

I mentioned that I was going to show my kids in Minnesota how the game of golf should be played. Well, I had a 63 but after the fifth hole it really got bad.

Have a great week.
