Associate tribal judge

ASSOCIATE TRIBAL JUDGE - TRIBAL COURT
CONTRACT ENDING OCTOBER 2019
    The successful applicant must be a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, a resident of the Flathead Reservation, at least 21 years of age, and of good character and reputation. An Associate Judge must never have been convicted of a felony, nor been convicted of a misdemeanor (except for minor traffic violations) within the year preceding appoint- ment, nor have a criminal action pending against him or her at the time of appoint- ment. An Associate Judge must be skilled in oral and written communications, must have organizational abilities and research skills, must have skills in dispute resolution techniques, and must have knowledge and an understanding of the Flathead Reservation Indian community, its people, and their customs and traditions. An Associate Judge must have a working knowledge of Tribal law, federal Indian Law, applicable State Law, and general legal principles. The Associate Judge must have a minimum of two years' prior experience relevant to the Tribal legal system. All applicants must submit a completed Tribal employment application, a copy of relevant academic transcript and/or training certificate(s), a copy of current valid driver's license, proof of enrollment from a federally recognized Tribe if other than CSKT and if claiming veteran's preference a copy of DD214 must be submitted. This is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test.  Salary range is according to Judicial Pay Plan.     The successful applicant must possess five (5) years
of experience as a Court Clerk II or similar classification from another court and achievement of the appropriate level of accomplishment under certification of Clerk of Court training, and demonstrate ability to effectively accept and complete special, complex and highly technical assignments and to serve as a supervisor, mentor and role model to Clerks I-II. Must have a high level of clerical, word processing, proof- reading, grammar and accounting skills as outlined in job description require- ments. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and sign a court confidentiality agreement. Knowledge of the CSKT Tribal Laws and procedures. Skill in courtroom and judicial office principles, practices and procedures. High level of customer service and working with outside agencies and the public. All applicants must submit a completed Tribal employment application, a copy of relevant academic transcript, a copy of a current valid driver's license, proof of enrollment from a federally recognized Tribe if other than CSKT and if claiming veteran's preference, a copy of DD214 must be submitted. Head cook

DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
    The successful applicant must possess one year experience in food preparation and management.  Working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures. Individual must pass a background check and be fingerprinted by the Tribal Law and Order (prior to hire). As such, there can be no violent offenses nor offenses that are such that it interferes with the preparation, participation of the public and delivery of meals. If offenses are such that they discourage elders from coming to the Center — the individual will not be retained. It is noted that the "fingerprinting" does take time and often the cook begins work prior to the fingerprinting results being received from-the FBI. If the final results are derogatory, or will have a negative impact on the program, the contract for service will be terminated. Current driver's license and insurance. Current CPR and First Aid or the ability to obtain credential when training is provided. Must keep current on an annual basis. Must be able to respond to an emergency and perform first aid and CPR, if necessary. It is part of DHRD drug testing pool (paid with federal funds working with elders). Must pass clean pre-hire test and must be ready to participate in random tests as they are called. A clean drug test is part of continuing employment. All applicants must submit a Tribal application, supplemental questionnaire for background investigations, copy of academic transcripts/ training certificates, copy of current valid driver's license, proof of enrollment and if claiming veteran's preference, a copy of DD214 must be submitted. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test and serve a mandatory 6 month probationary period. Salary is $12.18 to $14.05 per hour.
