Resolution 17-26

The Board of Lake County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on September 26th, 2017 at 10:30 am at 106 4th Avenue East, Room 211, Polson, MT, for the purpose of taking public comment on the Commissioners Resolution Increasing the Annual Fee for Services Provided by the Lake County Solid Waste Management District as listed in the Resolution below. If you are unable to attend the meeting and wish to submit your comment via email or telephone, you can send it to lakecommissioners@lakemt.gov or call 406-883-7204:
    RESOLUTION 17-26
A RESOLUTION INCREASING THE ANNUAL FEE FOR SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE LAKE COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT
Whereas, Lake County has established a countywide solid waste management district pursuant to the laws and rules of the State of Montana, originally 7-13-203 MCA, now MCA 7-11-1001 et seq., and,

Whereas, 7-11-1021, MCA, grants Lake County the authority to establish suitable disposal fees to defray the cost of maintenance and operation of said district, and,

Whereas, the rate was last increased in 2004, the Board of Directors of the Lake County Solid Waste District has determined the appropriate service charge for District Services as required by 7-11-1021 and has recommended an increase in annual fees per family residential unit, not to exceed $25 additional dollars, to cover increased cost of operations due to increased volumes of waste, personnel costs, increased state fees, increased regulatory compliance costs, and the addition of future services, bringing the annual fee per family residential unit to no more than $160.00,

Whereas,  the Board of County Commissioners did legally notice of the intent to increase fees and will solicit comment and hold public discussion on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 10:30 am, as per 7-11-1025 MCA, and,

Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners will consider all written protest and all comments from the public regarding the increase, as per 7-11-1025, MCA,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the annual fee for services provided by the Lake County Solid Waste Management District will increase from the current $135.00 per family residential unit to no more than $160.00 per unit.
