Childcare center lead teacher
Salish Kootenai College seeks applicants for Childcare Center Lead Teacher. Position to begin Sept. 3, 2013. The Lead Teacher's basic function is to provide safe and healthy learning environments and interactions for children enrolled in the Childcare Center. The Lead Teacher will support the learning of children through the collaboration with parents, staff members, and other teachers. The Lead Teacher will develop weekly lesson plans, implement activities, observe children's progress, and document findings in accordance with Center curriculum and assessment policies. The position is subject to random drug testing and a background check and pre-hire drug screen is required upon hire.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education; three (3) years documented experience as the lead classroom teacher in an early childhood setting; Knowledge of child development; Good verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must have the ability to work with people of varying backgrounds and ethnic groups and the ability to take direction and work independently. Knowledge or experience with HighScope Curriculum and Assessment model preferred. A current CPR and First Aid certification or willing to obtain certification upon hire is required. Must be current on required immunizations and verification of recent TB screening or ability to become current upon hire. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, kneel, sit, and occasionally lift 25 to 50 pounds.
