Forty days of praise and thanksgiving? Forty days of no complaining, shaming or maiming? These are the goals of a coalition of churches, small groups and individuals throughout Mission and Jocko Valley, said Pastor Frank Cummings of Life for the Nations in Ronan.

The project started Wednesday night, Oct. 15 at Lighthouse Church in Ronan, and goes through Sunday, Nov. 23, ending with a dinner of praise and thanksgiving to be held at Two Eagle River School.

The meeting places are some of the local churches, and various homes and small groups from Elmo to Arlee. A calendar of times and places can be obtained by calling one of the participating pastors.

Why such an endeavor? Pastor Cummings said that praise and thanksgiving have a very large emphasis in the Bible, but Christians sometimes need to be reminded of it.  Churches and Christians are noted for prayer, but not so much for praise and thanksgiving. Christians tend to pray a lot, but sometimes forget to turn back and say thank you when their prayers are answered. It is also a major Christian belief that Jesus Christ is worthy of praise no matter what, but sometimes Christians can get fixated on problems instead. The forty days is intended to help refocus hearts and minds on someone who is extremely important to Christians.

Finally, there are numerous reports of sticky problems of life being resolved by praise and thanksgiving.

Anyone who desires a season of refreshing, or who just wants to “praise the Lord Jesus Christ” is encouraged to participate in one of the praise sessions.
