PABLO — Organizations from the Montana Highway Patrol to Healthy Montana Kids had tables at the Joe McDonald Health and Wellness Center on Feb. 23 for a career/job fair. In all 96 different organizations and businesses were on the Salish Kootenai College campus.

The parking lot was packed as about 600 college students, community members and high school kids visited the fair looking for jobs, internships and advice on career paths.

Terri Cordier, Career Fair Coordinator, said, “Our numbers (of attendees) increased quite a bit from last year.”

High school students Mariah Duell and Brock Deneault were checking out different college and trade school options including quizzing Kicking Horse Job Corps Outreach Transition Specialist Lance Friedlander.

Not only attendee numbers were up since Lieutenant Anthony Peters, a Navy officer, said they brought three recruiters to the career/job fair.

Cordier said several businesses had already set up interviews for March 3 and 4.

Athough Cordier, Ellie McLeod and Chris Strom at SKC and Todd Erickson and Linda Posivio at Mission Valley One Stop Workforce Center had not gotten all the feedback data compiled, Cordier said she had received comments that the career/job fair ran smoothly.

The event was sponsored by Salish Kootenai College and Mission Valley One Stop Workforce Center.
