Mary Ann (Funke) LeBrun Gerrity

POLSON — Mary Ann (Funke) LeBrun Gerrity, age 82, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson. She was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Polson, to Bessie and Edward Funke, twin to brother Bill, in a large family of nine children.

She attended school in Polson then received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Patrick’s School of Nursing in Missoula. Mary Ann married her high school sweetheart, Clifford LeBrun, in 1953 and they had five children: Michael, Patrick, Lynette, John, and Peggy. Mary Ann worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Polson as an RN for 34 years. Her greatest joy was delivering babies. She was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a volunteer for many local groups.

Following the death of her husband Cliff, Mary Ann married Robert Gerrity in 1992. They enjoyed traveling and visiting their many children around the country.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by husbands Cliff and Robert, son John, grandson Joe, and five of her siblings.

As the oldest of four girls, with five older brothers, Mary Ann became the matriarch of the clan, hosting many family gatherings and events. A Funke Family Reunion was held in 2014 in Polson, with all four surviving siblings and over 100 direct descendents.

She is survived by sons Michael (Sheila) LeBrun of Polson and their six children and four grandchildren; Pat (Cyndi) LeBrun of Silverdale, Washington, their five children and two grandchildren; daughter Lyn (Earl) Radford of Spokane and daughter; and daughter Peggy LeBrun of Kalispell, her two children and four grandchildren. Also surviving Mary Ann are her brother Bob (Teresa) Funke of Huntsville, Alabama; and sisters Patsy Mueller of Polson and Carol (Louis) Ruiz of Missoula.

Mary Ann suffered a stroke in 2008 and showed tremendous grace in the face of severe physical challenges. Many thanks go to the staff at Polson Health and Rehabilitation for their superb care and endless kindness. Much appreciation also goes to Father Miroslaw Szynal and Deacon Wes Vert for bringing her communion nearly every week. She claimed her greatest treasures were her faith, her family and her many friends.
